Hibi Field

Most things worth noticing do not arrive as neat categories.

A thought from a conversation. A question worth returning to. Something you saw, something you need to do, a line that may become writing later. Usually, we either lose these things or spend too much energy deciding where they belong. Hibi Field is a small private notebook for this in-between space.

It is one book, written forward, page by page. You capture what is in front of you with a few simple marks: an observation, a question, an action, a decision, a seed. Later, you review the book and decide what deserves to move forward. Not everything does.

Field books have a long, quiet history. Naturalists and surveyors used them to record observations, sketches, measurements and questions while still close to what they had seen; the formal work could come later. Their value was not that they contained a finished account. It was that they kept the evidence of attention from disappearing. Hibi Field borrows that posture for ordinary life and work.

It is a small defence against the ~Reconstruction Tax~: the time and energy spent trying to rebuild what we once knew, noticed, decided or intended. Continuity is rarely lost in one dramatic moment. It is lost through small things left unmarked: a thought you meant to return to, a decision without its context, an observation that never reached the work it could have improved.

The book has 48 pages by design. Not because 48 is a magical number, but because a field book needs an edge. It should be large enough to hold a meaningful stretch of life, and small enough that you eventually reach the end, review what happened, and choose what deserves to continue. Unlimited space encourages accumulation. A finite book asks for attention. There is joy in that. A few lines written honestly in a small book can make a day feel more noticed. Closing one book and beginning another gives ordinary time a shape. You are not trying to document everything. You are simply refusing to let all of it pass unnoticed.

Hibi Field does not interpret, score, remind, or analyse. Nothing leaves the phone by default. It is deliberately quiet. It is private. No Server. Your Data Stays with you. 100% Private.

Capture. Review. Continue. The point is not to document life exhaustively. It is to lose less of what might matter later.
